The tires are a very critical component of your vehicle when it comes to vehicle safety, if well maintained your safety is maximized. Every driver should understand and commit to pre-trip inspection before any trip commences. Although the pre-trip inspection includes all the vehicle safety checks, however, today’s focus is on the tire maintenance. Tire maintenance focus on the following aspects which are: tire pressure, visual inspection, periodical tire rotation, wheel alignment, vehicle load, high-speed driving, spare tire, wheel spanner and the jack.

Tire pressure

Ensure that the tire pressure is inflated as recommended by the vehicle manufacturer. Underinflated tire increase the risk of damage to the tire, while also affects vehicle handling. Tire pressure must be balanced correctly as recommended by the manufacturer; usually, you will find that front tires' pressure recommendation differs from rear tires' pressure recommendation. When checking tire pressure, make sure that you also check your spare wheel pressure. Correct pressure will be obtained by making use of a pressure gauge. Take note that temperature may drop due to environmental changes, and be sure to only inflate your tire as recommended by the manufacturer.

Visual inspection

Checking of tire pressure is also part of visual inspection because as you move into the vehicle you may be able to see when the tire is underinflated, although that is not always the case. The tire visual inspection includes inspecting your tire tread, when the tread is worn replace the tire immediately as you are no longer safe on the road. Treads behold the car to remain in control. After hitting potholes or any other debris that may damage the tire, please stop and conduct your tire visual inspection. Changing of old tires to new tires works well when all four tires are changed at once, but if that is not possible any number perhaps one or two can be changed and then wheel alignment should be conducted.

Periodical tire rotation

Can be performed at home, although is advisable to take to the place where they will conduct a comprehensive inspection. Tire rotation prevents irregular wear and tear of the tires and believed to improve fuel efficiency. Tire rotate means removing the rear tires and fit them into the front and remove the front tires and fit them at the rear. If you notice any sign of wear rotate them sooner and perfume wheel alignment. This link says that recommended tire rotation interval is every 6 months or 6000 miles.

Wheel alignment

Proper wheel alignment can prolong the lifespan of the tires, preventing them from early damage. Wheel alignment can be done when doing the tire rotation, repair or replace a damaged tire or during periodic vehicle maintenance service. Other benefits of wheel alignment are increased fuel efficiency; improve vehicle safety and the experience of smoother driving.

Vehicle load

Vehicle load is also a critical aspect, for example, the vehicle manuals or manufacture instruction specify tire pressure recommended when the vehicle is loaded. Therefore, remember to regulate tire pressure as recommended.

High-speed driving

When driving at high speed, your tires can easily get damaged, by heat and other road hazards. On high speed, the driver can lose control of the vehicle and it can be worse if the tires are not in good condition.

Spare tire, wheel spanner, and the jack

Whenever in transit, it is important to carry the spare tire that is in good condition, free from physical damage and pressure well inflated. The spare wheel cannot fit itself; therefore, the driver should know how to replace the damaged tire. The required tools are the wheel spanner and the jack. The use should be able to make use of the tools in question.

Conclusion

The expedition can never be fulfilled without the safe tires; tires are the only components of the vehicle that connect the vehicle to the ground. It has to be kept safe and safe at all times. The journey should rather be discontinued that commences without tire safety aspects being considered. Although there are smaller damages that can be repaired like punctures, but mostly, once the tire is damaged, it is damaged, there is no way you can use it in the future. The spare wheel must be just only serving the purpose that it is there, it must truly meet the approved safety specifications.
